Semi-automatic high-end turntable with sub-chassis, two-part platter, electronic lift, limit switch and new Thorens TP 160 tonearm with knife-edge bearing. The TD 1601 has a damped sub-chassis that decouples the turntable and tonearm board from the motor and frame using three conical springs on the base of the device. A tensioned steel cable in the extension of the motor/plate bearing axis prevents lateral wobbling and thus ensures piston-shaped oscillation of the sub-chassis even when the device starts up. A sophisticated motor control system with a high-quality, external power supply ensures a constant speed with exact synchronization. In addition to the usual RCA sockets, the device also has XLR outputs, which enable true balanced operation with a suitable MC pickup.
The new TP 160 tonearm has an effective mass of 14 grams, is adjustable in height and azimuth and is equipped with a headshell connection according to the SME standard. The anti-skating is done using mechanical spring force and is adjusted by a scale wheel attached to the side of the tonearm shaft. The tracking force is set on a scaled, two-part counterweight. This allows a wide selection of pickups to be used, ranging in weight from 6 – 30 grams.
The TD 1601 is available in high-gloss walnut or high-gloss black.
